Cycling and Weight Loss

Many of us start the change to lose weight and improve our fitness at the same time. Cycling has huge benefits for your overall health and can help you in your weight loss journey.


Cycling can help in weight loss in the following ways:

There is no magic trick. The only way to reduce your weight is to eat less calories than you burn. All we can do is be in control of what is going in and out. Many of us (myself included) will have the temptation to overeat after a long ride as we feel we deserve.


Our Recommendations

  • We recommend that you eat regularly.

  • Cutting carbs will not help as it will give you less energy to go out and cycle.

  • Don’t overtrain! Don’t attempt to out train a bad diet, this will cause you stress, hormone imbalances and will not help you keep focused on your goal.

  • Fad diets don’t work! Statistics show that people end up heavier after the diet ends and they put all the weight back on.

  • Eat protein, carbs and at least 2 vegetables in each meal.

  • Track your calories in

  • Track your weight, waist measurements and Body Fat

  • Be reflective on the positive change

  • Don’t give yourself a hard time if you have a bad week, learn from it and get back on your journey.
