How Cycling Can Be An Antidote To Stress

I'm sure for everyone on the world we feel stress at some points of our lives. Uncertainly and the feeling of unfairness and being overwhelmed can causes us to feel stressed. Firstly if you are feeling stressed reassure yourself that we are going through difficult times and it's justifiable to have feelings of stress in relation to work and and personal commitments.

Remember that we all react to stressful situations differently.

How Cycling Can Help with Reducing Stress

  • Stress and anxiety are often caused by a sense of you feeling out of control, so focus on the tings you can control. Set time to get out on your bike and do it.

  • The sense of achievement you can gain from cycling is huge. Again it put you back in the driving seat and reminds you that you can make a difference to your health and performance on the bike, through consistent commitment.

  • Any physical exercise may help bump up the production of your brain's feel-good neurotransmitters, called endorphins.

  • All exercise does actually cause stress to your body. However, this does cause you to toughen up and cope with stress better. By helping your body and its systems practice working together through stress, can also lead to positive effects in your body including your cardiovascular, digestive and immune systems. This can help protect your body from harmful effects of stress.

  • Cycling is a meditation for many of us, we can forget the irritations of the day and just focus on the present.

  • Cycling can help improve your sleep. By being better rested we get take on the challenges of the day.

If it is cycling indoors or outdoors, make sure that you prioritise your cycling to ensure that you can take on the stresses that life throws at you.
