It's OK if it does not all go to plan!

It's great to set goals and it feels reassuring to have a plan. Goals keep us focused on a journey and plans keep us excited and motivated. But what happened when things don't go to plan? Does this mean we are a failure? Does this mean that you need to give up and not call yourself a cyclist anymore.

Things can get in the way of our plans and expectations ....and it's ok.

For example, work can sometime get in the way and we cannot get out on our bike as much as we like.

We can get sick and don't do as well as we like for our event, or we have to miss out on it completely.

We can get injured through cycling or from an accident on the bike, which can mean time off cycling altogether.

If something like this has happened to you, you are not alone and it certainly does not make you a failure. S**t happens and things aren't always perfect, but it takes a strong person to pick themselves up and re-evaluate. The most important thing is that you keep your passion and a positive mindset... and it's also ok if you momentarily don't have it.

We know that the athletes that we coach benefit from sharing with us when things are not going their way, like when then are not getting their training in and they are not feeling great. As coaches we love to be able to help our athletes move in the right direction when things are great and when we are presented with unexpected challenges.
