👂Listen to the latest episode of our Podcast - Adventures with Endurance Junkie Abi

On this show Elspeth will be joined by Abi. We know Abi, as she is one of the first women who came to GGSC for our online coaching back in 2020. Abi has always been an endurance junkie, by setting herself big challenges, like bike packing around the UK, everesting up her local hill, completing Ironman distance triathlons and the biggest yet North Cape 4000, a self supported event from Italy to the North Cape, where she rode self supported for over 4000km. This all started a few years ago when she thought she would give RIDE London a go. Abi shares with us what motivated her, why she loves time on the bike and how she practically takes on such events.

Abi, first talks about how she got into cycling through a friend doing Ride London, a 100 mile event where she though she would give it a go. Since then she has been hooked. What she loves about cycling is the feeling of being outdoors and the connection with nature, she particularly likes the peace of being up first thing in the morning. As well as solo cycling Abi is also part of a club in Essex which she says is very welcoming.

Abi has completed some big challenges, many of which on her own such as Everesting where she cycled up and down her local hill until she reached the elevation equivalent to Everest. She has also done London Edinburgh London, which she says was a great ultra event on the UK. North Cape 4000km was much more challenging as it was self supported. Abi went into the event not know if she would finish, but did amazing finishing one of the top women. She talks about how she focused on enjoying the scenery rather than pushing the time and how she planned her stops and food throughout the journey.
