We know that New Year is a great time to motivate ourselves to start something new or just to get back on track to what we wished we did more of last year. Whether it be learn a new language, improve our fitness or like many of the women I talk with improve your fitness and quality of life by spending more time on your bike.
A big reason we don't want to make resolutions for new year is fear of failure. Fear of falling in the countless failed objectives.

Routine
The key is by adapting our routines and making healthy habits. You maybe not aware but you already have habits and you fall into similar patterns, but you habits are not healthy ones facilitating the life you want. Changing your routine can be hard, are you are not always going to feel motivated, but by establishing a good routine, you embody the life you want.
Have Specific Goals
Many women tell me they want to be accountable to themselves but will little definition of what they want to be accountable too. To start with perhaps set yourself small measurable goals. For example, to get out on your bike 3 times a week. Get up an hour earlier each morning, cut out alcohol during the week. All these goals are related to help you improve your health and well being.
Remind Yourself of Your Why
By improving your fitness now, you in 20's years time will thank you. Yes, you can still enjoy cycling into your 80's or even beyond. There are people that are doing it, why not you? Cycling can also help you now, with having more energy and improving your mental health and social connections. Of course your 'why' is personal to you, but a great reminder of what you are giving up, or how you are letting yourself down if you do not stick to your goals.
Have a goal
There is nothing more motivating than having an event to work towards, whether it's a GGSC cycling camp or a sportive or gran fondo. The emotions are going to propel you.
