It's great to see the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift for now it's third year in the current format, of which is a grand tour. Also, it's great to see more and more women that follow women's cycling also.
Personally I have only watched it from home on the TV, but I try to watch each stage as the race unfolds. In the first year it was disappointing to see the lack of crowds on the roads to support the event, but it was evident that the impact of the riders having the opppertunity to race a Tour de France and compete for the yellow jersey. They put everything into it and made it really exciting to watch.
Last year the race was really exciting particularly as there was a mountain top finish that decided the race up such an iconic climb as the Tourmalet. It was amazing to see all the crowds finally appear for women's cycling towards the summit.
Personally I find watching the women's races much more exciting to the men's. Not only can I relate better with the riders, but I think in any level of cycling women's representation is lacking and it's so refreshing to see it. It's great to hear form the riders and the stories of how they have developed into cycling is so diverse in a sport that is still so much within it's development for women. Whilst I find men's cycling often to be quite predictable, with maybe only a few possible outcomes.
This years Tour de France Femmes certainly has not disappointed so far. The race actually started in Holland and headed through Belgium before going into France for the mountain stages. Seeing the crowds going through Holland and Belgium was great, both countries seeped with cycling culture and also where there are great opportunities for women, in which will hopefully pave the way for other countries.
In the women's peloton there are riders with years of experience such as Marianne Vos and also emerging talents eager to win a stage and also the favourite Demi Vollering. There are still 2 stages to go with the yellow jersey currently worn by Katarzyna Niewiadoma after Demi Vollering lost it in stage 5 after a crash and some controversy with her team not coming back from her. So it's really exciting to see what's going to happen over the next few days on the mountain stages, particularly with the race ending on the iconic Alp d'Huez.
The last 2 stages are on 17th and 18th August, I hope you can watch the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift.
