Parties and celebrations can be a huge challenge for those of us trying to focus on a healthy diet and controlling our weight gain. If you have stayed on track for the past few months and still focusing on changing your habits, Christmas brings a whole army of temptations. You will often have food around you for the entire holidays. Big meals and chocolates and treats will be all around us. Whilst you don't want any further joy taken out of the holidays, don't let these few days sabotage all the hard work you have done.
Have awareness of what you are putting on your plate.
Eat slowly and enjoy your food, take your time to eat whilst others will be going on for seconds.
Let close friends and family know of all the hard work you have put in, so they are aware that you are not being anti-social you are just focused on your goals.
Have a few treats and enjoy them, but learn when to stop
Get outdoors, go for a cycle to burn off the extra calories
Always visualise the people you want to see in the mirror next year and remind yourself what is important to you.
If you do gain weight over Christmas, don't give yourself a hard time. Remind yourself it's only a few days and you can get back on track.
